If thousands is Aaron Molina and Christian McShane. The two began creating sounds in 2000 as an experimental music project when McShane, a classically trained vocalist/guitarist and Molina, a punk bassist, decided to abandon their known instruments and perform with instruments they had no idea how to play. They chose this path in order to seek new musical territory through a naive approach. The music if thousands creates has been described as atmospheric, ambient, experimental, found sound, trance-hypnotic, noise and drone, among many others. The band resides in Duluth, MN yellowstone, if thousands second full-length recording and debut on Chairkickers’ Union Music, is a furthering of their musical evolution. Recorded in two days at Sacred Heart Studio, if thousands chose the renovated diocese in order to experiment with its deep resonance and natural reverb. Inky-plinky game boy music this is not. Continuously pushing musical boundaries and never what you'd expect, if thousands chooses to perform "incorrectly" on antiquated analog and acoustic instruments; one track even includes the background tape loop of a sampled fetal monitor from a expectant mother in her third trimester. There's an organic feel to their music; something familiar, something beautiful and sometimes a bit scary, like standing in a field while a massive thunderstorm builds on the horizon.
